In this exciting new role for the HR team, you will be the cornerstone of our approach to corporate compliance and lead us in the effective management of People Risk. You will govern the HR policies and processes, our approach to Ethics in Business, the functional operational plans, and our organisation wide mandatory learning cycles. You will build effective relationships with the HR Director and Leadership team, ensuring there are strong protocols and controls in place across all our Centre’s of Excellence. You will be a trusted partner for our Audit, Data and Legal teams, with a strong understanding of corporate governance.

About you

You will be the Subject Matter Expert in HR compliance, with the ability to design, operationalise, and manage an appropriate functional governance framework. You will have a strong understanding of HR policies and key processes across the employee life cycle so you can partner effectively with all Centres of Excellence. 

You will lead in the delivery of the HR Risk Management Framework, and be responsible for articulating risks, designing and testing controls, and formulating action plans for risk mitigation. You will act as the custodian of the HR process library and advise on HR record management, embedding clear file storage processes and procedures, with a comprehensive knowledge of GDPR. 

You will actively manage the Harrods Ethics in Business policy, possessing the expertise to contribute to the documents and associated processes, ensuring they are at the heart of how we do business.  You will centralise the governance of all mandatory learning, working with the Learning team and Subject Matter Experts across the business to ensuring there is a central calendar of activity with appropriate monitoring and reporting in place. 

More specifically you will have:

  • Specialist knowledge of HR and corporate governance and compliance
  • Strong understanding of employment legislation and HR policies
  • GDPR knowledge with the ability to translate data legislation into HR practices and ways of working.
  • A solution focused approach and be able to articulate complex concepts into practical solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to get into the detail while understanding the bigger picture.
  • Experience of working with Audit, Risk and Legal functions with stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Engaging presentation skills and knowledge of project management methodology. Strong communication skills, experience of liaising with and influencing senior stakeholders.
