We are looking for a Fire Safety Operations Lead to support the Head of Fire, Health and Safety in developing and embedding a positive fire safety culture within Harrods, aiming to improve the overall fire safety performance within the business.

About the Role

In this role you will be responsible to ensure compliance with the Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order (2005), be the subject matter expert for all fire safety enquiries and undertake fire risk assessments in accordance with the Fire Safety Strategy of the relevant building. You will increase awareness and understanding of fire safety through engagement with stakeholders to positively influence behaviours and continuous improvement of fire safety across the organisation.

You must be a subject matter expert and offer fire safety advice for all our business establishments including but not limited to the Knightsbridge store which is more than 170 years old and going through constant regeneration and rebuilding. You will be responsible  to support any and all projects/events in the business with fire safety guidance. This role will also include investigating and addressing any and all accidents/incidents that may take place across the business. You will also build relationships with external agencies, such as vendors and contractors and the fire brigade. 

The Fire Safety Operations Lead will oversee a team of fire safety officers and team leaders. You will oversee the daily performance and be responsible for performance management and professional development of the team. 

About You


You will have previous experience in a managerial capacity and be confident in your knowledge of fire safety. You will be a confident people manager who has experience in motivating and driving team performance.  


You’ll also have:

  • Have a strong knowledge of the Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order (2005)
  • Have excellent attention to detail
  • Have a Level 4 degree or diploma in Fire Safety (preferred)
  • Be able to confidently communicate with all levels of the directorate in the business
  • Strong IT skills (MS Office and Outlook)
  • Be flexible
