We are currently looking for an Assistant Product Developer to join our buying team!

About The Role 

The Assistant Product Developer is a key part of the Food Buying & Product Development team and plays an important role in ensuring Harrods’ delivers commercial, customer focused, innovative, and high-quality product ranges in line with the Food & Drink Commercial Strategy.

The Assistant Product Developer will support the Lead Product Developer (and wider team), and work with cross functional teams (including buying, procurement, kitchens/restaurants, food safety & technical, creative and retail) to deliver innovative, commercially successful and industry leading luxury products and packaging.

Depending on your role, you may be fully on-site or have a mix of on-site and home working – this is what we refer to as ‘Hybrid’. Our hybrid working policy allows colleagues to work from home for part of the week, with a minimum of three days on-site, depending on business needs.

About You

You will be supporting the product development team in delivering innovative food and packaging solutions that align with business goals and drive category performance. This includes managing project timelines, quality benchmarking, commercial strategy development, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure smooth execution of new product launches.

You will also:

  • Assist in creating and managing project critical paths to ensure timely, successful launches.
  • Support quality benchmarking and provide insights to category teams.
  • Contribute to commercial strategy planning and early-stage costing with buying teams.
  • Lead product quality review forums and coordinate packaging sign-offs.
  • Conduct market and competitor analysis through food fairs, trend reporting, and peer benchmarking.
  • Organise product samples for reviews, submissions, and photography.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with internal teams including Buying, Technical, Creative, Marketing, and more.
