We are recruiting for an Assistant Buyer to join our Mens Contemporary Designer team.
About the Role
As the Assistant Buyer for Mens Contemporary Designer, you will assist the Buyer in all aspects of the Buying Cycle across all channels (store, online & airports) as well as both operating models (own buy & concessions). You will support with product selection, quantifying orders and typing up product details onto the Buyer Sheets. You will have the opportunity to attend buying appointments as required and plan and select said product according to customer demand, trends, budget and divisional strategy.
You will support the Buyer with communicating product, brand and trend information on the season ahead to internal teams such as the store retail team, airport retail team, Visual Merchandising, Online Trading, Marketing, Publishing, PR and Social Media to ensure new launches, exclusive product and key trends and being featured. Whilst leading your team of Buying Assistant(s), coaching, training and guiding them to achieve personal and team goals.
Your duties will also include:
- Preparing agendas and materials for brand meetings and buying appointments, ensuring online and airport data is also referenced.
- Managing and booking buying appointments, concession walk through and travel schedule for the buying season.
- Developing and maintaining cross-channel brand relationships.
- Conducting competitor shops, brand and industry research to assess range, merchandise mix, pricing and new brands for store, online and airports.
- Attending weekly floor walks with the Retail Managers and Visual Merchandising team.
- Maintaining Social Media, Editorial, and PR submissions.
About You
You will be an established Buying Assistant, Assistant Buyer or relevant counterpart in Merchandising who is well versed in the Buying Cycle and the Harrods ways of working. You will not only understand our customer profiles and shopping habits, but also have an innate passion for all things Menswear Contemporary: you will be able to demonstrate this through your knowledge of trends, new brands and trading patterns.
The ideal candidate will be happy to travel, as required, to buying appointments and vendor meetings – you may be required to work weekends during said trips or during period of sale/stock takes.
We are also looking for someone who has:
- Excellent PC literacy, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good numeracy and analytical skills.
- A creative mind.
- Strong commercial and business acumen.
- Leadership capabilities.
