Join our Toys & Technology team as an Assistant Merchandiser and play a key role in driving commercial performance, stock optimisation, and profitable growth across one of our most high-profile and fast-paced areas of the business. This role is a 12-month fixed-term contract.


About the Role

As an Assistant Merchandiser, you will support the planning, trading, and performance of the Toys & Technology department, working closely with Buying, Retail, Distribution, and external suppliers to maximise sales, margin, and stock availability. This will be predominantly on Jellycat 4th floor business. You will be responsible for initiating and proposing actions through analysis of brand, category or attribute trading patterns in order to deliver the KPI’s. You will use data and trading insights to identify opportunities, manage risk, and drive informed decision-making throughout the product lifecycle. Alongside your commercial responsibilities, you will also lead and develop a Merchandise Admin Assistant, helping to create a high-performing and collaborative team environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analysing trading performance and identifying opportunities to improve sales, profitability, and stock efficiency.
  • Producing in-season reviews, forecasts, and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Managing stock flow, purchase orders, and inventory levels to ensure optimum availability across the department.
  • Collaborating with Buying, Retail, Distribution, and supplier partners to effectively manage ranges throughout their lifecycle.
  • Coaching, supporting, and developing a Merchandise Admin Assistant while championing best-practice merchandising processes.

Depending on your role, you may be fully on-site or have a mix of on-site and home working – this is what we refer to as ‘Hybrid’. Our hybrid working policy allows colleagues to work from home for part of the week, with a minimum of three days on-site, depending on business needs.

About You

You will be an experienced Assistant Merchandiser with a strong commercial mindset and a proven ability to manage a high-profile product area. You will confidently interpret financial and trading data to make informed decisions that drive profitability, while maintaining a clear focus on delivering outstanding results. You will thrive in a fast-paced retail environment, balancing multiple priorities and working independently when required. As a supportive leader, you will enjoy developing others and influencing stakeholders through strong communication and collaboration. Above all, you will bring energy, accountability, and a passion for continual improvement.

You will also have:

  • Advanced Excel skills, with experience of forecasting and auto-replenishment systems.
  • Demonstrable experience in merchandise planning, range analysis, stock management, and purchase order processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong financial awareness, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing business priorities.
