You will lead a talented team in producing consistently outstanding products at scale, while maintaining the exacting standards for which Harrods is known.

You’ll enjoy a competitive salary of £43,527 + tronc*, along with access to our renowned Harrods benefits, including generous discounts across our stores and restaurants.

About the Role

As a Bakery Sous Chef, you will play an important part in the daily success of our Production Kitchens. Working closely with senior chefs, you will coordinate production, organise the team, and ensure that quality, safety, and efficiency are maintained throughout every shift.

This is an opportunity to make a visible impact. You will set the pace in the kitchen, respond confidently to changing priorities, and create a positive environment where colleagues are supported to perform at their best. From maintaining product consistency to improving ways of working, you will help ensure that every item leaving the kitchen meets our high standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, motivating, and developing the kitchen team, setting clear expectations and creating a positive, high-performing environment.
  • Coordinating daily production and allocating workloads to ensure priorities, volumes, and deadlines are met.
  • Overseeing the preparation and production of high-quality products in line with agreed recipes, specifications, and presentation standards.
  • Monitoring quality and consistency throughout the production process, taking action where standards are not met.
  • Managing stock, ordering, storage, and rotation effectively to maintain availability and minimise waste.
  • Ensuring full compliance with food safety, hygiene, allergen, and health and safety requirements.

This is a fully on-site role, working five days out of seven.

About You

You will be an experienced bakery professional who combines strong technical ability with confident and supportive leadership. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment, you will know how to maintain exceptional standards while keeping the team focused, organised, and motivated.

You will lead from the front, demonstrating attention to detail, sound judgement, and a calm approach when priorities change. You will take pride in developing others, building an inclusive team culture, and finding practical ways to improve performance without compromising quality.

You will bring:

  • Strong culinary expertise, with experience producing high-quality products at volume.
  • Previous experience supervising, leading, or developing a kitchen team.
  • A thorough understanding of food safety, hygiene, allergen management, and kitchen compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail and a consistent approach to quality control.
  • A proactive mindset, with a focus on improving efficiency, reducing waste, and delivering excellent results.
